TeaMuse
A site that showcases a serene, modern tea brand experience, highlighting curated tea products, calming visuals, and an inviting user journey centered on relaxation and mindful sipping
Overview
This project focused on designing TeaMuse, an imaginary museum website for tea enthusiasts and connoisseurs alike. Over the course of six weeks, I was the sole researcher and designer of the website design to deliver a Figma prototype file.

The Challenge
As a tea connoisseur, despite extensive research, I found few resources or establishments dedicated to the idea of a tea museum. There were many tea houses, but I only found three real examples of museums in the Eastern Hemisphere, all based in Asia, with very outdated website designs that weren’t intuitive to use and didn’t follow any design guidelines.
Research
To understand user needs, I began by identifying gaps in existing tea-related digital experiences. Despite extensive research, I found only three tea museums globally—all located in Asia—with outdated websites and limited interactivity. I analyzed these sites for usability flaws and aesthetic limitations, then surveyed tea enthusiasts and casual drinkers to learn what they’d want from an online museum experience.
Ideas
Design exploration focused on creating a digital space that felt both educational and sensorial. I developed:
-
Wireframes for homepage, exhibit pages, and tea education
-
Concepts for features like creating your own tea blend
-
A tone that balanced elegance and accessibility, avoiding clichés while honoring cultural depth
Below are some of the personas I created to support my design process.
Prototype
The final Figma prototype included:
-
A responsive homepage with featured exhibits and teas
-
Child pages with layered content: history, tea types, cultural significance
-
A modular design system with earthy tones and serif typography
-
Logo and branding elements that evoked warmth, curiosity, and refinement
Outcome & Reflection
TeaMuse demonstrated how a museum-style site could elevate tea culture digitally. It addressed the lack of engaging, well-designed platforms for tea education and appreciation. Feedback from peers and testers highlighted its clarity, aesthetic appeal, and potential to attract both hobbyists and serious connoisseurs. While not launched, the prototype served as proof-of-concept for a niche yet underserved audience.
Through this process, it became clear that there is a strong interest in culturally rich, visually immersive tea content and that museum-style storytelling can be compelling online when handled with care. Next time, the focus would be on prototyping interactive elements earlier and spending more time in real tea houses or cultural institutions, so future iterations are even more grounded in real-world experiences.
